Free Business Coaching Sessions: What to Expect and How to Make the Most of Them
Mo Liv offers the first two business coaching sessions at no charge. This article explains what that means in practice, how to prepare to get real value from a free session, and what questions to bring.
Why Two Free Sessions?
One conversation is not enough to know whether a coaching relationship will work. A first session is usually diagnostic — understanding where the business is, where the founder wants it to go, and what is getting in the way. The second session is where actual coaching begins: working a specific challenge, pressure-testing a plan, or building out the first phase of a real roadmap.
Offering two sessions free is a way of being honest about the process. You should not commit to an ongoing coaching relationship after one conversation, any more than you would hire a key team member after one interview. The free sessions let both sides do the work and see how the working relationship feels before making any long-term decision.
What Happens in a Free Coaching Session with Mo
Session 1: Situation and vision
The first session is about understanding your business in its current state and where you want it to go. Mo will ask direct questions about your vision, your current goals, where things are going well, and where they are not. He will not tell you what to think — but he will push on the assumptions that are worth pushing on.
By the end of the first session, you will have a clearer picture of the highest-leverage thing to work on, and Mo will have enough context to plan the second session around a specific area of work.
Session 2: Real work on a real challenge
The second session is a working session. Depending on what came out of the first, this might be mapping out a 90-day execution plan, working through a specific strategic decision, diagnosing why growth has plateaued, or building out the Goals phase of Mo's 4-phase framework.
This is where you will get a genuine sense of what ongoing coaching with Mo looks like — the depth of the questions, the structure of the thinking, and whether the approach resonates with how you want to build.
How to Prepare for a Free Coaching Session
You will get more out of the session if you come in with a specific challenge or question rather than a general sense that things could be better. The more concrete you can be, the more useful the session will be.
Before your first session, spend 10–15 minutes writing down answers to these questions:
What does my business look like in 3 years if everything goes right?
What is the single biggest thing standing between where I am now and that picture?
What have I already tried, and why did it not fully work?
What would I want to walk away from this session knowing or having decided?
You do not need to have polished answers. The rougher the thinking, the more useful the session often is — because the work is often to get the thinking to a place where it can drive real decisions.
What Makes Mo's Coaching Different
Mo Liv is not a career coach who transitioned into business coaching. He built a company from the ground up and exited via acquisition by a multi-billion-dollar organization. He currently serves as SVP at a large public tech company — meaning he is still actively operating at the executive level, not teaching from a playbook he built in the past.
He has been coaching entrepreneurs and business owners for over 10 years. His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that a company is a reflection of its leader — so the work is always both strategic and personal, building the leader and the business at the same time.
All sessions are one-on-one and fully virtual. Between sessions, clients can reach Mo by email, text, or phone. There are no contracts — the engagement continues as long as it is valuable and stops when it is not.
How to Book Your Free Sessions
Fill out the contact form at mobusinesscoach.com. Mo will reach out to schedule the first session at a time that works for you. There is no application, no screening call, and no obligation beyond showing up ready to work.
The first two sessions are completely free. After that, if you want to continue, you will have a clear picture of how Mo works and whether it is the right fit — which is exactly the point.
